June might be different this year, but it's STILL recreation and parks month!
June is Recreation and Park Month is a movement that promotes the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health. Communities across Ontario have embraced it as a way to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy. Get outside an enjoy the parks and walking trails!
The Town of Milton is pleased to provide the following, COVID-friendly activities to keep kids active and engaged.
StoryWalk® 2021 is coming soon.....MPL, in partnership with the TD Summer Reading Club, is pleased to announce the first StoryWalk® ever for summer 2021!
Milton’s Recreation and Park is excited to partner with the Milton Public Library to introduce Milton’s first StoryWalk®. A StoryWalk® is a sequence of story book pages placed on stands, scattered along a trail, nature path or park.
After you read the first page, you’re directed to the next page until you have eventually read the whole book. A family friendly activity that helps promote literacy, physical literacy and gets you outdoors.
(A fun, socially distanced activity that places a children’s book, page by page, on laminated poster boards along a path or in a park. Kids and their families have the opportunity to enjoy reading a book while strolling through their community.)
This StoryWalk® will be in place mid-late June (and will be available all summer long) at 805 Santa Maria Blvd. Members of our Preschool and/or School-Age Summer Reading Clubs, will be able to earn a special badge (and more tickets for our Grand Prize Draws).
Stay tuned for the announcement of our launch date!
This June in Community Park (805 Santa Maria Blvd). This StoryWalk® was made possible thanks to a grant Milton Public Library received through TD Canada Trust.
